Page 1. Advance from C.0.(Vote of Credit) Account. £250 000. This was received during 1943/44. Only part of this credit is accounted for as yet and a corresponding expenditure item for the full amount of the credit is entered on Page 4 and ne expenditure under this head has been entered for 4944/45.

Expenditure

Page 4. Item 1. Payments by H.M. Consul at Macao.

The expenditure for the last quarter of 1943, for which we recently received a request for reimbursement, shows a substantial increase in the item "Relief of Colonial British Subjects". increase is reflected in the increased estimate for 1944/45.

This

Page 4. Item 2(a). Payments made by Govt. of India. This item was estimated at £50,000 for 1943/44 but there was no expenditure during that year. Even now only accounts up to November 1941 have been received from India. I think, however, that the £50,000 will probably cover this expenditure up to the end of 1944/45. It will also cover the estimate for 1943/44 of £10,000 under Head 3. Miscellaneous. Item 9 "Expenditure in India prior to date of Malayan Representative taking over" which I have eliminated from these present estimates.
